The site Long Max is located approximately 3 kilometres north of the village center of Koekelare. The hamlet is called Leugenboom.
On the domain you'll find protected heritage.
The restored bakery stands by its white color in the eye. The bakehouse with its cross oven leaning against a barn and a stack area with a dry attic. There the fruit could be kept dry. Also, the animals in the stable at that time were able to take advantage of the heat of the oven. So it's good to understand that this exceptional building was protected.
Long-Maxdrove dates from the modern Flemish reclamation period. It is also protected because it testifies to the tight floated pattern that emerged during the systematic reclamation. The underlying forest was protected by the Castle occupant.
Just before the forest, lost in the meadow, lies the bed of the artillery platform of Long Max. This immensely concrete structure is a decisive proof of the size of the gun. Go see the artillery platform, then you will understand that this was the location of the former biggest gun of the world.
These three elements together have ensured that the whole as village view was protected.
The site Long Max is also the ideal setting for a nice hiking or cycling trip. In addition to its own Long Max-walk, there are also numerous bicycle routes that pass along the site. Also the iron front-car route here has a permanent stop.
When you travel by bike or car, the site Lange Max provides plenty of parking not only for cars and cyclists, but also autocars can easily park.
